I am delighted to invite you to the Second Conference of the Thematic Network DIETS. The conference this year is particularly of interest to everyone concerned with providing practice placements to healthcare students. While the two day programme is aimed at dietitians primarily there is much to interest others who have the responsibility of educating future health professionals

The theme is centred on quality in placement learning. Asking questions about what is „quality‟ and how do we ensure a quality service is of course important not only for students but also for our patients and clients. So even if you don‟t teach students at the moment I am sure that a quality approach to patient and client education, staff supervision and others that you manage will be improved by listening to our very knowledgeable speakers and also by attending the workshops. The Network will have been running for two years at the time of the conference and many of the speakers will also provide information about activities of the Network partners and draw conclusions about such areas as quality, assessment and educating both the students and those who supervise them. We will also be able to discuss the results of the European dietetic competency consultation. A good place to meet and share and generally learn more from each other.
