Qualifications acquired outside Germany will be accepted if the applicant is able to prove he/she meets the requirements of the Council of European Community directive 89/48/EWG or 92/51/EWG. Alternatively the applicant can sit an examination or complete a course of adaption to professional knowledge and skill.
Non-EC applicants also require a residence permit (from local department of foreign affairs (Ausländerbehörde in der Stadt/Kreisverwaltung)) and a work permit (from local employment exchange (Arbeitsamt))
